New Delhi: Filmmaker Ankita Gusain's documentary ‘Six Weeks, 3 Days, and All the Years Before' is set to have its world premiere at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam.
The film has been selected in the IDFA Competition for Short Documentary and will premiere on November 14 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, according to a press release.
‘Six Weeks, 3 Days, and All the Years Before’ reflects on Gusain's father’s disappearance during her childhood and his eventual return, revisiting their relationship through a visual letter to her unborn child.
Gusain, who is an FTII (Film and Television Institute of India) graduate, said the film has been a "deeply personal journey" and she is grateful for the selection.
“Having my film selected for its World Premiere at IDFA is incredibly meaningful to me and, in many ways, surreal. This film has allowed me to revisit memories and explore a relationship that has shaped my life. To have it recognised by an international festival like IDFA makes the experience all the more special," she said in a statement.
"I feel fortunate to be part of this year's programme, alongside such diverse voices from around the world, and look forward to sharing the film with its first audience," she added.
The film is produced by Aparna Sanyal and Rajiv Mehrotra for the Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT). Gusain co-wrote the film with Chetan Kapri, who also served as the cinematographer and co-producer.
She edited the film alongside Shantanu Naik. The location sound is by Yash Sharma, with sound design by Vineeth PK, re-recording mixing by Samonjoy Bhattacharya, and background music by Nishant Ramteke. Mahak Gupta worked as the colourist on the film.
